JAKARTA, OnlyTheBestChoice – The absence of the name of the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), KH Hasyim Asy’ari, in the Indonesian History Dictionary Volume 1 of the Ministry of Education and Culture, attracted us to dissect the dictionary. The goal is to see who the characters are written in it.
That’s why we’re tracing it verbatim between 347 pages. Then classify them based on the names of the figures including the organizations where the figures belong.
As a result, we found 144 Indonesian figures in Volume 1 of the Indonesian History Dictionary. Meanwhile, PNI, Boedi Oetomo, and PKI figures appeared in it the most.
Based on the graphic above, the most prominent figures came from the Indonesian Nationalist Party (PNI). There are 14 figures affiliated with Sukarno’s party. Among them were Sukarno himself, Mohammad Hatta, Samsi Sastrowidagdo, to Ali Sastroamidjojo.
Meanwhile, the Boedi Oetomo organization ranks second. There are 9 figures who are affiliated with the youth organization. On the other hand, there are Soetomo as founder, then there are Oto Iskandar Dinata, to Radjiman Wediodiningrat.
In addition, PKI figures also received a large portion of the dictionary. Starting from DN Aidit, Abdul Latief Hendraningrat, Alimin Prawirodirdjo, Darsono, Oetomo Ramelan, Haji Misbach, Musso, Semaoen, and Amir Sjarifuddin. In total there were 8 PKI figures.
Then what about the NU organizational figures?
In the dictionary, there are 4 NU figures. They are KH Adnan, KH Abdul Wahab Chasbullah, KH Masjkur, and KH Zainal Arifin. The name KH Hasyim Asy’ari is not in the dictionary at all.
However, the name of the founder of NU was mentioned in the KH Abdul Wahab Chasbullah entry. In the entry’s description it is written:
‘In 1947, Abdul Wahab was elected as the Rais’am (General Chair) of the PBNU replacing K.H. Hasyim Asy’ari ‘.
Regarding the absence of the name KH Hasyim Asy’ari, the Director General of Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture Hilmar Farid has also provided clarification. He said that his party did not recommend eliminating the role of KH Hasyim Asy’ari in the historical dictionary.
“The conclusion was that there was an error in which the script that was not ready was then uploaded to the Rumah Belajar page. There is no intention of eliminating KH Hasyim Asy’ari as a historical figure in the book, “Hilmar said in a media conference in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday (21/4).
According to Hilmar, KH Hasyim Asy’ari’s role as the founder of NU is indeed on another page. It’s just not in the page or entry.
“So the narrative of eliminating the role of KH Hasyim Asy’ari is not true. We admit there was a technical error and we apologize. That 1 should not have happened, “concluded Hilmar. [Red /*]
